The outdoor school at Camp Cuyamaca
Located just a short 75 minute drive east of San Diego off highway 79 in Cuyamaca Rancho State Park, the Outdoor School at Camp Cuyamaca is a county run camp facility that has been providing SDUSD students with memories and learning opportunities for over 60 years. Ask most born and raised San Diegans and they'll share their fond memories of camp.
The camp is staffed by enthusiastic educators and outdoor specialists who provide a range of outdoor activities and learning opportunities for our students. Activities include nature studies, hiking, Native American history, camp fire songs and stories, rock climbing, archery, and astronomy in the darkened skies of the Cuyamaca Mountains. The girls' and boys' cabin facilities house up to 72 students in four wings of 18. The students get healthy meals prepared on site by nutrition staff with experience preparing tasty food for large groups. The full time medical staff are responsible for administering any prescription drugs and available to handle any first aid needs day or night. Seasoned camper or first time in the outdoors, all students are guaranteed a fun and memorable experience. |
