What will my child do at camp?

What do you bring to camp?
1) You will need to bring a sleeping bag, pillows, towels, sheets and blankets. The rooms are HEATED!! You may not need a blanket.
2) You will need to bring 2 pairs of shoes for hiking and other uses during camp.
3) You can bring a disposal camera (It is suggested to bring more than one.)
4) Shampoo, conditioner, soap or body wash, toothbrush, toothpaste, dental floss, face wash cloths or body sponges.
5) Students should bring a re-useable water bottle.
DO NOT BRING ANY ELECTRICAL DEVICES such as iPods, cell phones, iPads, blowdryers,straight irons, curling irons, etc. ANYTHING YOU CAN PLUG is not allowed.
DO NOT BUY NEW CLOTHES or SHOES for your child. They will get dirty and its best for them to wear something that is already broken in.
DO NOT BRING HAIRSPRAY or aerosol sprays.

Where is the camp?
How much does it cost?
The cost for the 5-day, 4-night camp is $350, and includes all meals, housing, transportation and medical/liability insurance.
NOTE: We would like to encourage those folks who can pay the full $350 to please do so. If you can, please round up to $400 to help fund scholarships to help ensure that every student who wants to can enjoy this once in a lifetime opportunity. **Scholarships are will be available.

What time do I arrive at Roosevelt to get on the bus?
The bus must arrive at Camp Cuyamaca by 10:30 a.m.. Students will need to be at Roosevelt Middle School before 8:30 in front of the school. The bus is scheduled to arrive at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, March 27.
When do the students come back from camp?
Departure on Friday, March 31 at 10:30 from camp. The bus should arrive from Camp between noon and 12:30 p.m.
How are the students housed during camp?
There are 6 cabins, 3 cabins for the boys and 3 for the girls. Each cabin has 4 "dens" that have nine bunk beds each that will accommodate up to 18 students. The dens have no doors and open out to a large center room for play, meetings, etc. There are 2 bathrooms in each cabin off the center room. Each bathroom has 4 stalls, 4 sinks and 3 showers. Several students from the same school will be in the same den. Showers will be around 4pm every day before dinner beginning on Tuesday-Thursday. Showers MUST last around 3minutes per student and YES they are timed by the in-house counselor.
Medications?
Written authorization has to be complete!! Students will give the medications to the chaperones. The students will ensure their names (and school Roosevelt Middle School) will be on all medications and placed in a zip lock baggie. The chaperones will give the medications to the camp nurse.

- Students are NOT available to get phone calls from parents unless it is urgent…not “just because.”
